Go Fish (an American traditional favorite)

Object of game:to get the most sets of four cards.

How to play: The teacher deals five cards to each player. The players then look for four of the same cards in their hands. They place those four cards face up in front of them for everyone to see (when they get them). The teacher places the rest of the cards face down in the center of the table. These cards are the “fish pond”.

The player to the left of the teacher starts the game by showing the card he wants and asking a specific player if he/she has that card. If the player cannot say the word, he/she can ask for the number on the upper left of the card. For example, “Do you have a Guppy? “ or “Do you have number 4?”

If the player asked has the card, then he/she gives it to the player who asked for it, saying, “Here you are.“ If the player does not have the card, then the player says, “GO FISH” and the player takes a card from the “fish pond”.

Players can continue their turn as long as they keep getting the card they ask for. Their turn ends when they select a card from the “fish pond”. The person to the left continues the game.

When one player runs out of cards, the game is over. The person with the most sets of four cards wins.

The colorful array of fish consists of four each of the following:

angel fish, catfish, clown loach, guppy, molly, neon tetra, paradise fish, pencil fish, red platy, Siamese fighting fish, Swordtail, tiger barb, zebra danio.
